Statistics of Mainland-Taiwan Trade and Investment in January-September 2015

I. Mainland-Taiwan Trade

Mainland-Taiwan trade in January-September 2015 amounted to US$137.71 billion, down 5.5% year on year, accounting for 4.7% of the total volume of the mainland’s external trade. The mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$33.55 billion, down 2.8% year on year, and the mainland’s import from Taiwan was US$104.16 billion, down 6.3% year on year. Taiwan is the mainland’s 7th largest trade partner and the 6th largest source of imports.

Mainland-Taiwan trade in September 2015 amounted to US$14.97 billion, down 18.2% year on year, and down 3.1% month on month. The mainland’s export to Taiwan was US$3.56 billion, down 15.2% year on year, and down 10.8% month on month. The mainland’s import from Taiwan was US$11.4 billion, down 19.2% year on year, and down 0.6% month on month.

II. Investment from Taiwan

In January-September 2015, a total of 2,081 Taiwan-funded projects were approved in the mainland, up 21.3% year on year, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$ 1.21 billion, down 27.8% year on year.

In September 2015, a total of 240 Taiwan-funded projects were approved in the mainland, down 169% month on month, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$90 million, down 48.1% month on month.

By the end of September 2015, as many as 94,417 Taiwan-invested projects were approved in the mainland, and the actually utilized Taiwan capital was US$62.36 billion, accounting for 3.9% of the total utilized overseas investment in the mainland.
